Training Objectives

This major focuses on the mathematical foundations of information technology and computing technology, aiming to cultivate applied mathematics professionals with a solid background in mathematics and programming, as well as the abilities of mathematical modeling, algorithm design and analysis, software application and development. Students will also acquire expertise in scientific and engineering computing, data statistics and analysis, information security, and multimedia processing, and be capable of engaging in research, teaching, application development, and management in the fields of information technology and computing technology.

Training Requirements

Students in this major will study mathematics, information science, computing science, and computer application technology, with a focus on information science and computing science. Graduates should acquire the following knowledge, abilities, and qualities:

1. Knowledge: Systematically master the basic theoretical knowledge in the relevant field of this major, including a solid foundation in mathematical theory, a firm grasp of basic knowledge in programming, information science, and computing science, as well as basic knowledge in computer application. Be familiar with the professional knowledge of 1-2 specialized directions in this field, understand the frontiers and development trends of the discipline, and possess the basic theoretical knowledge required for advanced programming and software development.

2. Abilities: Possess the basic skills necessary for this major, such as mathematical modeling, algorithm design and analysis, software application and development, and have strong computer application capabilities. Be proficient in one foreign language, capable of reading professional literature, and have certain listening and speaking abilities. Have strong self-study, expression, and problem-solving skills.

3. Qualities: Students should have comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, and physical fitness, with good humanistic qualities, teamwork spirit and cooperation awareness, project practice ability, and innovative consciousness. They should also have a good basic quality in mathematics science, information technology, or computing technology engineering.

Professional Characteristics

This major enables students to receive a solid mathematical foundation and a good education in information technology and computer science, and receive preliminary training in scientific research and application development. While strengthening professional level and skills education, it conducts the cultivation of applied talents that meet the requirements of humanization and marketization. All professional courses are set up with an international advanced knowledge system, and advanced and famous domestic and foreign textbooks are selected. It attaches great importance to and develops international educational exchanges and cooperation, and comprehensively introduces advanced domestic and foreign network teaching resources to enrich the network teaching content for students in this major. It advocates the practicality of talent cultivation and the forward-looking nature of knowledge acquisition, and strengthens practical operation training for students to enable them to quickly enter various practical work roles after graduation. It emphasizes the comprehensive application of knowledge in various related fields and highlights the connection and practical engineering practice of various knowledge. Graduates of this major have such favorable professional foundations that they can further their studies and engage in research in information technology or computing technology, or enter the electronics industry, computer industry, software development industry, or work as information administrators in any enterprise. This major has a strong teaching staff with excellent teaching and research capabilities.

1. Professional Foundation Courses

Mathematics courses: Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Algebra, Analytic Geometry, Probability Theory, Ordinary Differential Equations, Mathematical Statistics, Stochastic Processes, Discrete Mathematics, Numerical Analysis, Complex Function Theory, Multivariate Statistical Analysis and Data Mining, Mathematical Modeling.

Computer Science and Technology courses: Programming and Algorithm Language, Data Structures and Algorithms, Database Systems, Python Programming, Digital Signal Processing, Digital Image Processing, Matlab and Mathematical Experiments, Computer Networks.

2. Intelligent Computing Direction Courses

Intelligent Computing, Mathematical Methods Based on Application Problems.

3. Information and Data Security Direction Courses

Introduction to Information Security, Fundamentals of Information Theory and Coding Theory.

VI. Teaching Staff:

The professional teaching team has a doctorate degree ratio of 65%, including 2 full professors and 6 associate professors. The teaching organization at the grassroots level is well-established and has been awarded the title of advanced collective at the university level for many times. Two teachers have been honored as university-level teaching masters, and many have been awarded the title of university-level top 100 mentors. They have hosted or completed multiple national and provincial-level natural science funds. Three teachers have been funded by the China Scholarship Council to pursue further studies in the United States and Canada. Five teachers have won awards in the university-level basic teaching skills competition for young teachers. Four core professional course textbooks have been published, and three courses have been approved for construction as university-level gold courses.

Students of this major actively participate in various important academic competitions and have achieved remarkable results in the National College Students' Mathematical Modeling Contest, the Mathematical Contest in Modeling for Undergraduate Students, the National College Students' Mathematics Competition, and the Blue Bridge Cup National Software and Information Technology Professional Talent Competition, among others. They have won numerous national and provincial awards on multiple occasions.

VII. Employment Destinations:

Graduates of this major have a high employment rate and an average high salary. The postgraduate entrance examination performance is also good. Since 2017, the Information and Computing Science major has been granted the qualification for direct recommendation to postgraduate studies. Outstanding students can be directly recommended to double first-class universities.
